Dear Readers,

 January is the first month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar and one of seven Gregorian months with the length of 31 days.

January is named for Janus, the Roman god of doors and gateways.

The first day of the month is known as New Year's Day. The first Monday in January is known as Handsel Monday in Scotland and northern England.

In the pagan wheel of the year, January ends at or near to Imbolc.

January’s flower is the Carnation.

In the Vedas the term "Brahma" does not appear. It is a word that stems from the Sanskrit word "Brih" which means "to grow" or "to expand." In this way Brahma has become synonymous with Hiranyagharba, "The golden egg of creation."
