Gail Carr Feldman and Katherine Gleason have written a playful, fun, uplifting and interactive experience, which results in a higher comprehension of female empowerment.  The authors guide the reader down the path toward emersion with the great goddess force.  By introducing legends, lives and lessons behind each sacred goddess or major mythological female entity and cultural female icon (such as the Goddess Athena, ancient Greek goddess of wisdom, or the High Priestess of the Tarot deck as well as the Mona Lisa) the authors are able to present a method in which essentially feminine fundamentals can be incorporated into every woman’s essence or spirit. 

Feldman and Gleason write, “You live in the material world, and yet you have an Inner Goddess, or a spirit, and emotions.” The authors recognize the plight of today’s woman as getting lost in the shuffle of daily tasks that waters down the notion of existence and self significance and encourage the reader to stop and recognize the true identity of her own soul, as they write, ”Many women become overwhelmed by the business of everyday life and forget, nor never realize that they are the ones who sit in the driver’s seat…Between taking out the trash, making dinner, have your car serviced, mowing the lawn, shopping for shoes for the kids, have you considered your reason to being on the Earth?”

The authors address psychological dynamics concerning such subjects woman must contend with throughout their existence such as how they regard their own body, exercise, food, drink, strength, creativity, mediation, knowledge and taking action.  The story of each goddess, as the Feldman and Gleason write, are stories that affirm the “value of women and the feminine.” The legends of the goddesses reflect the strength of each one, eclipsing many sentiments, which women today still tend to be burdened with, such as self-doubt and self-consciousness.

By interjecting association with the goddesses into the folds of everyday life, Feldman and Gleason are able to transform mind set of mundane aspects of a woman’s daily life into the recognition of a powerful existence for women, say to their reader, ”You can think of the goddesses in this book as metaphors for the various aspects of the female psyche and personality – pieces of yourself”.

Well-known women on the topic of self-discovery also pepper the book with inspirational quotes.  The authors also include philosophies by internationally known women spiritual teachers and writers such as Marianne Williamson and Pema Chodron. 

Feldman and Gleason point out that goddess energy takes many forms and can be used in many ways.   This book allows women to harness the power of the goddess and encourage them to open a new dimension of themselves and take a look at who they really are – by discovering the power and glory of being a woman and the feminine energy force behind it.
