In this workshop, Jon Kabat-Zinn introduces the practice and the healing potential of mindfulness. Based on his work over the past 25 years in mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and on his new book, we practice coming to our senses using our eyes, our ears, our nose, our tongue, our body, and our mind (considered the sixth sense in the Buddhist tradition).
Through formal and informal meditation practices, including mindful hatha yoga, and through dialogue about our experiences, we explore the inner and outer landscapes of our direct experience. We explore the possibility of growing into ourselves in ways that allow us to live life as if it really mattered, and to understand more profoundly and directly how and where we fit into and belong in the larger world of the society, the body politic, the very planet we live on, as well as in our own skin.
This workshop is useful for health professionals as well as lay people. Beginners and longtime practitioners of mindfulness are all welcome.
